Planting depth is an important consideration when planting Clematis, as it directly affects the health and development of the plant’s root system. Be careful with the planting depth as there exists a very stable myth that every Clematis has to be planted 4 inches (10 cm) below the soil level, but it’s absolutely incorrect! And very often this mistake becomes the reason of your Clematis death... I will reveal the correct planting depth for all the Clematis groups grown in my garden which will help you to avoid this widespread mistake when planting a Clematis.

Choosing the right location for Clematis is crucial for its overall health, growth, and abundant flowering.
As a rule, most Clematis are sun lovers and thrive when exposed to at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. They need a location that receives ample sunlight, preferably in the morning or early afternoon.
However, some Clematis varieties can tolerate partial shade, especially in hot climates.
While still other Clematis cultivars are created to grow in semi-shaded conditions.
In the workshop I will give recommendation of the location for all the Clematis groups I grow in my garden.

Since different species and varieties vary significantly in size—from small creeping plants to large vines that can reach 7 meters or more—choosing the right spacing is essential.
